I am Shirley Claypool and I come from a strong Sertoma/LaSertoma background. Utica was a fairly new club when my parents joined back in the early 1970’s. They planted the seed of service and friendship in me, something I have never lost. I married a Sertoma and have been an active LaSertoma since 1980.
I have held all club level offices, was the last Governor of the East Central District in the North Central Region. I am an International Qualified Trainer as a member of the first class held in Wallaceburg Ontario. In 1996. I have been fortunate to teach classes at conventions all over the country and Canada.

I’ve been a member of Roxboro LaSertoma since August 2014. Wow, it seems like just yesterday that I joined this phenomenal civic organization.
After having served as Treasurer, Vice President, & President of the Roxboro LaSertoma Club, growing into the role as International Director of the Atlantic Carolina West Region was an opportunity which was anticipated to be a rewarding venture.
My reign as International Director began with many challenges due to COVID. However, we endured & rose to the challenges we faced providing successful fund-raising activities and serving mankind.
One of my most rewarding accomplishments was the chartering of our new youth group DIVAS. I love our mission statement to enhance the lives of all persons and to promote youth and education through public awareness as we strive to be “Leaders in Service to Mankind.”
Debbie Belt joined Heath LaSertoma in 2011. She attended her first International Convention that same year and hasn’t missed one since then. She has held every office on the local club level except for secretary.
She was International Director for the North Central Region from 2019 to 2021 – the COVID years. Her only regret of serving during those years was that she did not have to opportunity to travel to different clubs during that time.
Debbie is a retired elementary music teacher. She is married to Jeff, a retired United Methodist pastor. They have 4 grown children and eight grandchildren.
Besides being active in the Heath club, she directs the choir at Grace United Methodist Church in Zanesville, Ohio, sings in the Greater Zanesville Singers Choir, and plays in the Grace Handbell Choir. She and Jeff also go to as many of their grandkids school and sporting events.

I’ve been a member of Chatham LaSertoma since 2001 ……. That’s when Scott and I got together, little did I know at the time that volunteering was a requirement to be a part of the Williston family 😊.
Since that time, I’ve held the position of President of Chatham LaSertoma and International Director, Canada Region. Scott and I have been married since 2005 and between us, we have 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
I’ve been retired since 2019 from a local shared service organization for our local hospitals, where I held the position of Manager, Clinical Systems. I love to golf, camp, and travel, so hope to have the opportunity to visit as many clubs as possible over the next few years.
My dream for LaSertoma is to see it grow in more communities across Canada and United States.
I am honored and thankful for the opportunity to serve as your Treasurer! My goal is to always be transparent with your LaSertoma International funds.
If any member would like access to the LaSertoma International financial reports, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].
Enjoy time with family, friends and your LaSertoma family during this beautiful fall season. It is my favorite time of the year!
And in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want you all to know I am thankful for this opportunity, and I am thankful for all of you and the kindness/goodwill that you are spreading through our communities.
