Ways to Get Involved

Join a Local Club: Meet regularly, build friendships, and serve your community.

Start a New Club: We’ll help with resources, charter guidance, and best practices.

Volunteer on a Project: Jump into scholarships, youth, literacy, or hospital initiatives.

What You’ll Experience

Meaningful service: Real work with visible results—youth awards, literacy events, hospital support, and scholarships awarded locally.

Leadership development: Club → Region → International. Training, mentoring, and opportunities to serve as an officer or director.

Unity & Support: International branding, traditions, and a support structure that includes blanket general liability insurance for U.S./Canada clubs and clear guidance for safe, effective events.

Service Hours (What Counts)

LaSertoma service hours include planning, travel, event time, counseling/mentoring related to sponsorships, and fundraising hours when proceeds fund sponsorships (not general expenses). Wear your LaSertoma pin/apparel when volunteering to help identify the club’s service presence.

Fundraising (Ways & Means)

Examples include card parties, reverse raffles, auctions, bazaars, and concessions. Clubs track net proceeds and in-kind items donated for sponsorships so impact is measurable and reportable.

Good to Know

Tax & Compliance (U.S.): Each club secures its own Federal ID (separate from LaSertoma International’s EIN 44-0627022) and files the appropriate IRS Form 990/990-N. Check state requirements for any state-level exemptions.

Insurance Certificates: If a venue requests “additional insured,” the club requests a certificate from the Insurance Agency with event details.

Protocol & Traditions: We honor roles, not individuals—introductions, seating, and ceremonies are designed to respect offices and uphold our values.

Symbols We Cherish

Colors: Gold & Black • Flower: Yellow Rose • Emblem: Wreath (Honor & Glory), Shield (Protection), Fagots (Strength through Unity)
