International President of LaSertoma International

Deb Ravestein

I have been married 43 years to Adam Ravestein who is President of the Dayton LaSertoma Club. We have 3 children, all married with 8 grandchildren. I am a part time instructor of developmental math to adult students in the collegiate setting well as the Healthcare field. I am also a learning specialist focusing on a system called Powerpath which focuses on the student’s ability to calm their brains in order to comprehend, learn and remember information.   I love camping and doing service for my community and have been a member of Dayton LaSertoma for over 25 years. In Dayton LaSertoma I have held many offices from Sergeant at Arms, Treasurer, Vice President and President for many years. I served as International Director for the North Central Region for 2 years. My hope is to see LaSertoma grow stronger, branching out to with new regions and clubs.

President Elect of LaSertoma International

Helen Williston

I’ve been a member of Chatham LaSertoma since 2001 ……. That’s when Scott and I got together, little did I know at the time that volunteering was a requirement to be a part of the Williston family 😊.  Since that time, I’ve held the position of President of Chatham LaSertoma and International Director, Canada Region.  Scott and I have been married since 2005 and between us have 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  I’ve been retired since 2019 from a local shared service organization for our local hospitals where I held the position of Manager, Clinical Systems. I love to golf, camping and travel so hope to have the opportunity to visit as many clubs as possible over the next few years.  My dream for LaSertoma is to see it grow in more communities across Canada and United States.

I am Shirley Wooddell-Maine and I come from a strong Sertoma/LaSertoma background.  Utica was a fairly new club when my parents joined back in the early 1970’s.  They planted the seed of service and friendship in me, something I have never lost.  I married a Sertoma and have been an active LaSertoma since 1980.  I have held all club level offices, was the last Governor of the East Central District in the North Central Region.  I am an International Qualified Trainer as a member of the first class held in Wallaceburg Ontario. In 1996.  I have been fortunate to teach classes at conventions all over the country and Canada.

TAX CLARIFICATION

LaSertoma International has a 501c(4) Federal Identification Number: 44-0627022 and a Group Exemption Number 9452 that can only be used by LaSertoma International. Each LaSertoma Club should have a Federal Identification Number of its own. Contact the Internal Revenue Service to apply and notify the International Secretary/Treasurer when that number is received. The identification number will allow a Club to open a checking or savings account. Internal Revenue Service requires each club to file the appropriate Form 990 each year to maintain non-profit status for your club. The thresholds do change periodically so always check with IRS for the maximum gross amounts permitted for each type of form. Most clubs will be able to file the postcard Form 990-N. If a Club has filed Form 990 for a previous year, the Club may receive an inquiry. If this occurs, complete the form and return it to the Internal Revenue Service so the record will be in order. Further tax specific information may be obtained from the Internal Revenue Service by calling toll free: 1-800-424-1040

Each LaSertoma Club should also contact its State Tax Office for requirements and any necessary forms regarding State Tax Exemption. The local Club is responsible for securing its own identification number and working with the respective State Tax Office if the Club wishes to have a tax-exempt number.
