International President of LaSertoma International

Tracey Lamb

I joined Suburban LaSertoma after I graduated from college.  During my college years, I had been a member of a national service fraternity and was looking to join another group where I could be active in the community.  A co-worker introduced me to LaSertoma and I became a member immediately.  I loved the camaraderie and friendliness of the group and wanted to part of this great organization.  I have held the offices of President, Vice-President and Secretary of my club.  I have also been the International Director for the North Central Region and I am currently honored to be the President Elect of LaSertoma International.

My mission for LaSertoma International is to continue to grow this great organization.  There is so much potential in this country to carry on the mission of LaSertoma. That mission is “To enhance the lives of all persons and to promote youth and education through public awareness as we strive to be “Leaders in Service to Mankind” Volunteering can bring a great sense of accomplishment and fill you with pride. My theme for this year is “We are all Gems of LaSertoma” we can all sparkle and shine as we serve the community.

TAX CLARIFICATION

LaSertoma International has a 501c(4) Federal Identification Number: 44-0627022 and a Group Exemption Number 9452 that can only be used by LaSertoma International. Each LaSertoma Club should have a Federal Identification Number of its own. Contact the Internal Revenue Service to apply and notify the International Secretary/Treasurer when that number is received. The identification number will allow a Club to open a checking or savings account. Internal Revenue Service requires each club to file the appropriate Form 990 each year to maintain non-profit status for your club. The thresholds do change periodically so always check with IRS for the maximum gross amounts permitted for each type of form. Most clubs will be able to file the postcard Form 990-N. If a Club has filed Form 990 for a previous year, the Club may receive an inquiry. If this occurs, complete the form and return it to the Internal Revenue Service so the record will be in order. Further tax specific information may be obtained from the Internal Revenue Service by calling toll free: 1-800-424-1040

Each LaSertoma Club should also contact its State Tax Office for requirements and any necessary forms regarding State Tax Exemption. The local Club is responsible for securing its own identification number and working with the respective State Tax Office if the Club wishes to have a tax-exempt number.
